Gouves is peaceful and quiet, the resort is set along a coastline of sandy, rocky bays with a small selection of tavernas, bars and shops. This relaxing resort is conveniently situated as it is easy to explore the island of Crete from here, most places are easily accessible by local bus or hire car. Gouves is a purpose-built resort with an artificial and yet, friendly village atmosphere. It is small and centred around one main tourist street. Gouves has three small beaches of good quality sand. Water sports are available windsurfing is popular. There is life after sundown and it remains fairly tame. Just a few tavernas and bars scattered about, some providing live music and occasional dancing but there are plenty of happening places on the island to go to by taxi. Boats trips are available and excursions to Spinalonga, Knossos and Heraklion. The waterpark near Hersonissos is about 15 minutes away. Transfer approximately 30 mins and 25GBP from Heraklion airport.
