Watching the sun disappear into the ocean is a highlight of\nany holiday, but in Ibiza, it\u2019s a truly magical experience. Whether you\u2019re with\nfamily or friends, witnessing the sun go down on the White Isle is a picture\nthat lingers long in the memory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And while nature\u2019s nightly show can be appreciated all over\nthe island, there are some vantage points that make the whole thing extra-special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why we\u2019ve put together our guide on where to catch\nthe best sunsets in Ibiza. We\u2019ve covered different areas of the island, so you\nwon\u2019t have to go too far for that awesome sundown experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ses Portes Tower<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This enticing viewpoint on the island\u2019s southeast tip is a prime spot for watching the Ibizan sunset. Standing nearly 13m high, Ses Portes was built as a watchtower to look out for invading pirates, occupying far-reaching views across the Aegean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The circular fortress features two floors and turrets for large cannons. The impressive height, combined with the tower\u2019s  location made it an effective deterrent against pirates looking to pillage from nearby islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the tower makes an excellent place to watch the sun go down, with clear, uninterrupted views of the horizon. Arrive in the early afternoon, and you can make the most of the nearby beaches for a few hours of sun-soaking, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las Salinas is one of the island\u2019s\nup and coming beach hotspots, just a 20 minute walk from Ses Portes Tower and a\nshort drive from both Ibiza Town and Playa D\u2019en Bossa<\/strong><\/a>. You\u2019ll get an\nidyllic view of the bobbing boats as you sip on a coconut at one of the beach\nbars \u2013 there\u2019s a cool vibe on this stretch of sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A short way back up the east coast,\nyou\u2019ll find Es Cavallet, a long stretch of golden sand backed by  dunes. There\u2019s plenty of space here to lay\ndown your towel in peace, with a handy beach bar for refreshments. The gentle,\nrolling waves make this an attractive spot to sit and gaze out at the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benniras<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nestled in the north of the island<\/strong><\/a>,\nBenniras Beach has been attracting sunworshippers for decades. This iconic bay\nis one of the best places to watch the sunset in Ibiza, and on Sundays, hippies\ngather to drum as the sun goes down, creating a unique island experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beach is a lovely place to while away an afternoon, and the water is perfectly clear for snorkelling sessions. There are paddle boards and kayaks to explore the rocky coast, and sun loungers to top up your tan. A few steps away, you\u2019ll find a beach club and restaurants dishing up local cuisine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work your way east to Aguas Blancas for a less crowded day on the sand. This locals\u2019 favourite features rugged surroundings and crashing waves for a bit of bodyboarding. When the wind is elsewhere, the beach makes a great place for a swim and snorkel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearby, the Can Marca caves are ideal for escaping the Ibizan heat. Once used as a hiding place for smuggled contraband, the caves are home to some outstanding formations and lakes. Your ticket includes a light and music spectacle with an impressive 10 metre cascade at the centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another highlight of the area is the bohemian market at Las Dalias. This eclectic bazaar features over 300 stalls showcasing everything from dreamcatchers to handmade shoes. There are a bunch of eateries here serving up Moroccan dishes and woodfired pizza, and the market comes alive at night with reggae bands and flamenco dancers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunset Strip<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wherever you are in San Antonio<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 as long as\nit\u2019s on the coast \u2013  you\u2019ll get to see an\namazing display of colour as the sun makes its journey below the horizon. And\nwhile there\u2019s no doubting San Antonio\u2019s credentials as a mecca for partying,\nthere\u2019s a chilled out atmosphere at sundown, when holiday-goers of all ages\ngather at the bars and cafes dotted along the shoreline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The promenade gets busy in the\nsummer months, so we recommend walking north away from the crowds for the best\nsunset experience. A golden Buddha marks the end of the strip, and here you\u2019ll\nfind a few relaxed bars for cocktails, or you can just sit and admire the view\nfrom the steps leading down to the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the San Antonio area, you\u2019re\nspoiled for beaches. Just around the corner from the strip lies Calo des Moro,\na small cove with inviting azure water. The soft sand is the perfect launch pad\nfor a sunset swim, and you\u2019ve got restaurants and shops a few yards away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drive 20 minutes north, and you\u2019ll\nfind yourself on the wonderful soft sands of Cala Saladeta. Backed by forested\ncliffs, with clear aquamarine water, the beach is breathtaking. You could\neasily spend a whole day here, although the beach is free from facilities, so\nyou might want to plan ahead for water and shade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head a little south of San Antonio to Cala Conta, Ibiza\u2019s most famous cove. The deep turquoise of the sea here is remarkable, and the surroundings are idyllic.
