There\u2019s no doubt about it, holidays abroad are back. With\nrestrictions lifted, millions of us will take to the skies this year for a bit\nof  fun in the sun. But with everyone\nrushing to their phones to snap up the latest holiday deals, things can get\nbooked up pretty fast \u2013\nthat\u2019s where a last\nminute escape<\/strong><\/a> comes into play\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, last minute doesn\u2019t mean you have to leave tomorrow, or\neven a week from now. You can book weeks ahead, and still score yourself a\nlast-minute bargain. That means you\u2019ve got time to fit into that swimsuit from\n3 years ago, and<\/em> give fair warning to your boss!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not all holidays are made equal when comes to doing it last minute, of course. Long-haul holidays are a hassle, and that hike up K2 you had planned is going to have to wait. What you need is somewhere nearby with minimal fuss and maximum bang for your buck. Just like these 3 last minute beauties…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Tenerife<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An island paradise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can\u2019t go wrong with a late deal to Tenerife<\/strong><\/a>, whether you\u2019re an island explorer or straight up sun-seeker. There are tons up top beaches to bronze on, dramatic mountains to hike, and a nightlife that will knock your socks off \u2013\u00a0it\u2019s the Canary Island that has it all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tenerife\u2019s biggest draw is the fantastic year-round weather,\nso it makes a last minute escape a no-brainer. Visit in December and it\u2019s\nshorts weather. Visit in September, and it\u2019s shorts weather. You get the\npicture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means beaches, and Tenerife delivers the goods when it comes to strips of sand and blue ocean. Staying in the capital Santa Cruz means you\u2019ve got Las Teresitas Beach on your doorstep, with its golden sand from the Sahara. The beach is Blue Flag, and as a bonus you\u2019ll find kiosks serving up Canarian food, Mojitos and ice-cream. The perfect beach?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natural beauty<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you find yourself in the south, then head straight for\nPlaya del Duque. This slice of paradise comes with calm waves, soft sand and a\nfew palm trees for good measure. There are sun loungers to top up the tan, and\nbehind the beach you\u2019ll find an impressive range of bars and restaurants offering\neverything from tapas to pub grub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did we mention the giant volcano in the middle of the\nisland? Don\u2019t worry \u2013 it\u2019s dormant, but it does make for some jaw-dropping\nviews. If you have a head for heights, you can journey 3,500 metres to the top\nof Mount Teide in a cable car. For the extra-adventurous, you can hike to the summit.\nEither way, be prepared for an adrenaline-pumping experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a night on the tiles, head to Playa de las Americas<\/strong><\/a> in the southwest. There\u2019s a top night out for every taste, whether you\u2019re into club classics, rock, karaoke or live music. You\u2019ll find sports bars, Irish pubs, and 2 for 1 deals on cocktails \u2013 it\u2019s all here. For a more chilled-out vibe,  hop over to Santa Cruz in the island\u2019s north for lounge bars and rooftop cocktails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Rhodes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Beautiful beaches<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This Greek\nisland gem<\/strong><\/a> is tailor-made for a last minute escape. There\u2019s an\nabundance of laidback beaches, amazing ancient ruins and a night life that\nranges from cocktails on the beach to dance \u2018til you drop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beaches on the island are perfect\nfor all-day bronzing and dips in the ocean. Check out Kallithea for clear blue\nwater, where you can snorkel the day away looking for colourful fish and sea\nturtles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make your way to Tsambika Beach for one of the most beautiful spots on the island. Play it cool at a beach bar, or hire a lounge bed to soak up the rays. You can even fly across the water on a jet ski, or take to the skies on a parasail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Late nights and ancient sites<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to a great night\nout, Rhodes<\/strong><\/a>\ndelivers. Start at Oasis Beach In Kallithea, where you\u2019ll stumble across a cave\n\u2013 with a bar inside! This holey hotspot is open all day for a chilled-out mixed\ndrink, but comes alive at night with DJ\u2019s, dancing \u2013 and even diving off the\npier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Move on to Faliraki\ntown, where you can listen to live music over dinner, or sip on a pint at an\nIrish pub. Walk along Bar Street and you\u2019ll find a watering hole for every\ntaste, with tons of top dance clubs, rock bars, and karaoke pubs. Unwind at a\nlounge bar or party until dawn \u2013 the night is yours!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For something a bit calmer, put Lindos on the list, where you can step back in time at the archaeological park. Get your picture taken at the Temple of Athena, and retrace the steps of royalty as you wander the Palace of the Knights. There\u2019s even a beautiful beach nearby to cap off a peaceful day away from the crowds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. The Algarve<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Captivating coastline<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The perfect all-rounder for late deal\nholidays, this Portuguese\nparadise<\/strong><\/a> caters to families, couples and party-goers alike. With outstanding\nbeaches, ocean-going adventures and wild n\u2019 wicked water parks, it\u2019s time to\ndive in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Base your holiday in Albufeira town on the\nsouth coast, and you\u2019re a stone\u2019s throw from  Praia de Felecia, one of Europe\u2019s best beaches.\nThis 6km-long strip of sand backed by orange-tinted cliffs has to be seen to be\nbelieved. Talk about Insta-ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To change things up, head west to Faro and Carvalho Beach, for a wonderland of grottoes, golden sand and turquoise ocean. With limestone cliffs either side of the beach, and beautiful see-through water, there\u2019s nowhere better to get away from it all. There\u2019s even a bar for a colourful cocktail or two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Holiday excitement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From here,  it\u2019s time to take to the seas on a kayak\nadventure. Paddle around the coast and take in the amazing sea cliffs and rock\nformations before stopping at Benagil Cave. This ocean cave is truly spectacular\n\u2013 no spoilers here, but trust us, you\u2019ll want to make time for this holiday highlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For watery adventures of a different kind, spend\na day at Slide & Splash, the biggest and best water park in Portugal. Test\nyour mettle on Black Hole and Kamikaze, and speed to victory on the Mat Racer. Little\nones will love the park too, where they can shoot down foam slides and have a\nblast splashing about in the kid\u2019s zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If night-time adventures are more your thing,\nthen there\u2019s plenty to keep you occupied in exciting Albufeira. Have a low-key start\nto the evening in the historic Old Town where you\u2019ll find a number of excellent\neateries and bars.
