If it's perfect beaches, peace and quiet, lively partying or perhaps a combination of all the above, then Zante is the place. Situated at the foot of the Ionian group of islands, Zante (Zakynthos) boasts verdant mountainous terrain, lush valleys and tempting sandy beaches fringed with crystal clear waters.
It is however the famed loggerhead turtles that really steal the limelight, visiting the island otherwise known as the 'Flower of the Levante' every year during the summer to nest. The famous image of the sunken shipwreck on the sandy cove and the Island's blue caves also make a Zakynthos holiday a 'must do'.
Zakynthos Town leans heavily on its Venetian influences with re-constructed Neo classical style buildings and majestic squares reminiscent of those in Italy today. Laganas is the lively option. Lined with bars and clubs this is a party goers paradise with an equally great beach. Laganas is however not a one trick pony and does offer great facilities for families and couples alike. Neighbouring Kalamaki is the quieter option and offers a more subdued pace of life but is close enough to enjoy the action if you desire! Tsilivi is a smaller resort spread amongst the backdrop of rolling hills and cypress trees. It's a more traditional offering that focuses relaxation whilst still boasting a large selection of bars and restaurants. Argassi and Alikes are great family options with long sand and shingle beaches and their close proximity to Zakynthos town enables easy access for a spot of shopping or exploring.
