This charming riad is located in the heart of the ksar (fortified city) of Ait Benhaddou, which is a very quiet place and well-known due to its strong ties with Hollywood. Guests will find numerous restaurants and bars as well as links to the public transport network in the city centre, just a 10-minute walk away. Ouarzazate, with its shops, nightlife and bus station, is approximately 32 km from the family-friendly historical hotel. Marrakech is around three and a half hours' drive from the riad, while Ouarzazate airport is roughly 34 km away.
The riad is housed in a historical building which is part of the famous Ksar Ait Benhaddou, which dates back to 1062. The city was constructed from clay bricks and has thick defensive walls protecting the interior. Ait Benhaddou was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Morocco in 1987. The riad was renovated in a modern style and offers all the necessary comforts for a pleasant stay. The riad has a lobby and cloakroom, and 8 comfortable guest rooms.
The rooms are decorated in traditional fashion with comfortable Berber carpets and bed covers with henna and saffron colour tones. Each room features a shower and modern WC, with the water being heated by the solar panel system which makes this riad an ecological residence. The rooms are appointed with a double or king-size bed.
The riad offers guests the opportunity to learn how to weave carpets for free from women of the village. There are all the necessary weaving tools. The riad also offers Moroccan cooking classes.
A typical Moroccan breakfast is served in the lounge, on the terraces or even in the cavern. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample authentic Moroccan cuisine, such as salads, briouats, soups, couscous, tagines, barbecue dishes, tanjia and traditional desserts. The riad aims to focus on the freshness and quality of ingredients, with all dishes prepared using locally sourced market produce. Guests may select their lunch and dinner from set menus.
