Food & drink in Tsilivi

As well as traditional restaurants and seaside tavernas, Tsilivi is also home to international cuisine, grill-houses and the odd fast food outlet. The intoxicating aroma of olive oil emanates from most eateries and is generously drizzled over Greek salads and seafood specialities. Local products include honey, cheese and goat yoghurt, while dishes of the island such as stuffed rabbit and spetsofai – sausages and peppers in a rich tomato sauce – are well worth trying.

Beautiful beaches in Tsilivi

The sublime sandy beach of Tsilivi, which has been awarded Blue Flag status for its cleanliness, stretches for at least a mile. It’s also protected from the strong winds of Zante, providing families and young children hours of stress-free entertainment in the beach’s shallow waters. Other options include Gaidaros Beach, a small harbour that’s well suited for fishing, and the crystal clear water of Belussi Beach, which is located in the Drosia Kipseli area.

There’s no shortage of activities and entertainment in Tsilivi, thanks in large part to its growing popularity among couples and families. From waterparks and amusement arcades to cooking classes and cultural tours, it all depends on the type of traveller you are. There’s also an abundance of attractions scattered around the rest of the island.

Visit the island capital of Zante Town: Although badly damaged by the 1953 earthquake, Zante Town was largely rebuilt in its original style. Highlights include the Post-Byzantine Museum, which displays frescoes and religious icons from as early as the 12th century, and the Venetian Castle that offers fantastic views over town.

Take a speedboat excursion: The sea caves surrounding Tsilivi are a truly stunning sight to behold. The best are the Blue Caves, which take their name from the remarkable colour of the water’s reflection. Another popular excursion is to the picture-perfect Smugglers Cove, also known as Navagio Beach or Shipwreck Beach.

Splash around at a waterpark: If you want a little more excitement than the calm and shallow sea at Tsilivi beach, consider visiting the nearby waterpark instead. Tsilivi Water Park is a multipurpose facility that features adrenaline-pumping slides for teenagers, a lazy river for younger children, and all the amenities adults could want as well.
