From cheap beach eats to gourmet restaurants, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to indulging in Playa de Muro. When you’re not trying to locate the best paella, you should be looking out for Majorca specialities such as arròs brut, a rice-based stew filled with a range of meats, vegetables and mushrooms. Vegetarians, on the other hand, may lean more towards Coca de trampò – which is often compared to pizza due to its dough base. However, it’s a lot healthier with an absence of cheese, the dish is made up of tomato, green pepper and onion instead.

There are also plenty of international options on offer too if you prefer something more familiar. After dinner drinks are also on the cards with a mix of drinking venues, from British style pubs inviting you to enjoy tribute act performances and local bars promising a night of Flamenco.

We can’t recommend this beach enough, as the largest shore on the island, this lengthy stretch has everything you could possibly need in one place. There’s a lineup of sunloungers and umbrellas when you require some shade, while the lifeguard supervision puts families at ease. As for watersports, pedal boats, kitesurfing and stand-up paddleboarding are just some of the activities on offer. But the biggest lure has to be its stretching shallows, so little ones can paddle fairly far out before the depth changes. You can always hop over to Playa de Ca’n Picafort Beach too, which is a little more commercialised yet this often means bigger crowds.

As much as Playa de Muro is focused around the beach, days on the sand aren’t the only way to fill your time. Take on its terrain via two wheels, set your alarm for its Saturday morning market, sample Spanish favourites from its shoreside eateries or go bird-watching in its natural park.

Go wildlife spotting in S’Albufera National Park: When you feel like getting back to nature, S’Albufera National Park is ideal for undisturbed strolls. Not only is it the largest, but it’s also classed as the most important wetlands in the whole of the Balearic Islands. Proving popular with bird watchers with over 200 species spotted here. You may also come across other wildlife from Iberian frogs to colourful dragonflies and even water snakes. After appreciating the different wildlife species, it’s time to turn your attention to the plant life with rushes, elms and poplars making up its greenery. The park is also home to a reception, where you can find out information about the many hiking trails.

Hop over to nearby Alcudia: With a beautiful Medieval walled town, Alcudia is definitely worth a visit during your time in Majorca. Carefully restored to its former glory, wander its narrow pathways admiring its antique architecture. There’s plenty of ways to experience the culture here, whether you visit its weekly market or time your visit with one of its cultural events. However, many people would describe this hotspot as a resort of two halves as you’ll also come across swanky boutiques, contemporary marinaside restaurants and luxury hotels. While, its shoreline has been given the Blue Flag seal of approval and the section closest to town has watersports by the dozen.
