1. Family fun

Santa Eulalia

Santa Eulalia beach, Ibiza

Best for: families with young kids

The smart resort town of Santa Eulalia is ideal for families with young children. The white sandy beach is well-equipped, and the water is calm and shallow, so little ones can enjoy a safe splash-about. The beach is backed by a beautiful palm-tree lined promenade – a great place for a bite to eat or a stroll at sunset. In town, there’s a colourful hippy market to grab some bohemian bargains, and nearby, you’ll find the best choice of restaurants on the island.

Hotel choice: Insotel Fenicia Prestige Suites & Spa

The Fenicia is designed to include the whole family. The Mini Club is tailor-made for young children, with facilities including games, paints, and toys. There’s a pool just for babies and toddlers, and kids are even given their own opening times at the spa. For parents, there’s a large outdoor pool, an up-to-the minute gym, and choice of a la carte and buffet restaurants.

Playa D’en Bossa

Best for: families with tweens and teens

The beach at Playa D’en Bossa is the longest on the island, with soft sand and crystal-clear water for swimming and snorkelling. Water sports range from the sedate (kayaking and paddleboarding) to the adrenaline-pumping (jet skiing and parasailing). There’s an excellent waterpark nearby for fun-filled days out, and in the evenings you’ll find a varied choice of restaurants serving up everything from burgers to paella.

Hotel choice: Fergus Style Bahamas

Kids and adults will love this resort’s extra-large pool, just a few metres from the beach. There are fun activities for all ages including table tennis and darts, while grown-ups can make good use of the sun loungers,  jacuzzi and spa. A snack bar open all hours of the day is handy for those in-between bites, while a buffet-style restaurant ensures nobody gets left out at mealtimes.

2. Couples’ escapes

Portinatx

Best for: escaping the crowds

There are a handful of beautiful beaches on this part of the island’s northern coast. S’Arenal Gros, the biggest of the bunch, offers a host of activities including boat tours, and scuba diving, while S’Arenal Petit is quieter, and popular with couples. When you want to explore, there are a number of hiking trails for stunning views of the glistening water below.

Pick of the hotels: Sandos El Greco

The beachside Sandos El Greco is adult only, which means you’ll get the chance to unwind in peace. Here, you can sip on a cocktail in the whirlpool, or relax with a glass of chardonnay on a Bali bed. When it’s time to dine, the hotel’s buffet and a la carte restaurants offer an impressive range of local and international cuisine. Each room features a flat screen TV, mini fridge, and balcony.

The town is a great base for exploring the rest of the island, with hidden coves, secluded bays and idyllic islands all waiting to be discovered.

Pick of the hotels: Dorado Ibiza Suites

Just a few minutes from Ibiza Town by taxi, the Dorado Ibiza is an adult only resort on the beach in Playa D’en Bossa. The music-themed rooms are large and contemporary, while outside, the pool area offers comfortable loungers and a DJ for chilled-out summer vibes. The Dorado is the perfect place for a spot of breakfast by the beach before a day exploring the charms of Ibiza Town and beyond.
