Fuerteventura

Home to some of the most impressive beaches in Europe, Fuerteventura is all about escape. With miles of sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters, the Canary Islands’ best-kept secret is the perfect place to unwind.

For day trips away from the sea and sand, there are a number of picturesque coastal towns and pretty fishing villages ready to be explored. At the top of your list should be the charming village of Betancuria, where you can take an afternoon stroll along beautiful historic streets before sipping on a glass of sangria at a traditional restaurant as the sun goes down.

For those able to drag themselves away from the resort pool, families can spend the day on beautiful Blue Flag beaches, or enjoy a fun-filled afternoon at Aqualand – the biggest and most thrilling waterpark on the island. A day trip to the famous dunes of Maspalamos should also be on the cards, where you’ll feel just like you’ve been transported into the middle of the Sahara Desert!

For couples and friends, you could do worse than spend your days soaking up the sun on a gorgeous golden sand beach before hitting the town at night.
